Haryana governor asks DGP to speed up probe into parking tussle
PANCHKULA: Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki has asked Haryana DGP Shrinivas Vashisht to speed up the probe into the tussle of Yograj Singh and his relatives against retired DSP Ashanand and his two sons on August 24 late evening. He has also asked the DGP to submit a report to him.
Kuljit Kaur ? cousin of veteran cricketer and actor Yograj Singh, and a UK citizen ? met the governor on Friday, and gave him a written complaint against the shabby police probe into the dispute.

In her 12-page complaint, she alleged that she and her 25-year-old daughter Tanya Kaur were molested by the DSP and his two sons on the day of the brawl. She also alleged that despite several requests to the cops to register an FIR against the three for molestation, the police are still not taking any action against them. She has also mentioned her medical reports and those of her daughter, which show abrasions on their body.
Earlier, the Haryana DGP appointed Panchkula DSP Mamta Sodha as the chief enquiry officer on September 1 to probe the case. The DSP was on leave since then. Kaur finally met the DSP on Monday and submitted the same complaint to her as well. Confirming the news, Mamta Sodha stated: "I have been given charge, and I have called both the parties in my office on Thursday. Justice will be delivered for sure. I cannot say for certain who were at fault, but things will soon become clear."
Kuljit suspects that senior police officials would ask her to compromise with the other party, but she said she was in no mood to do so. "I want justice for myself and for my daughter. I had even received threats from some cops, stating that if I did not compromise, they could seal my passports. I am ready to face anything now, but I will not let them escape. I might be asked to compromise on Thursday, but I will not do that at any cost. The governor has assured me of a speedy probe in the case," she stated.
Earlier, the Haryana police had arrested Yograj Singh, the father of cricketer Yuvraj Singh, in the case of a late-night brawl over a car parking in Panchkula. He was held following a violent clash between a group of his friends and NRI relatives against their neighbours. He and his friend allegedly attacked a former DSP and his two sons. Along with Yograj, the Panchkula police arrested four more people, including the former cricketer's friend Bhupender Singh, former Chandigarh police DSP Ashanand, and his two sons Sumit Nand and Sunil Narang, both advocates.
Yograj was later bailed out by a local district court on Monday afternoon, after paying Rs30,000 for his bail bond. Bhupender was sent on a one-day judicial custody, as the court held him guilty of trespassing.
